MANILA — The camp of Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has sought reconsideration of the police’s revocation of his firearms licenses and registrations, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Monday.
PNP Civil Security Group director PMGen. Aden Lagradante said only 26 of the 117 firearms registered to Dela Rosa have so far been surrendered.
“From 117, 26 ‘yung na-turn in nila so we still have 91. Continuous ’yung ating coordination doon sa legal officer niya,” Lagradante said.
He said Dela Rosa’s camp informed the PNP that they were seeking reconsideration before the police Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO).
“By our rules, dapat ma-surrender. But ang last na information, on the process of accounting doon sa mga remaining firearms,” he said.
“Actually they are for the reconsideration doon sa letter nila sa FEO,” he added.
The PNP revoked Dela Rosa’s License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) and the registration of his 117 firearms, citing provisions of the Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Dela Rosa’s lawyer Israelito Torreon earlier said they would challenge the revocation through a motion for reconsideration before the FEO.

Torreon questioned the PNP’s reliance on Section 4(g) of RA 10591, saying the provision deals with the standards and requisites for the issuance of a firearms license, while Section 39 specifically lays out the grounds for revocation.
He argued that the law does not expressly provide that a warrant issued by a foreign court is, by itself, a ground to revoke a firearms
Meanwhile, Lagradante said the PNP continues to coordinate with Dela Rosa’s legal officer regarding the remaining firearms.
Asked whether Dela Rosa could face an illegal possession case over the firearms that remain unaccounted for, Lagradante said the senator’s license is currently under administrative revocation.
