MANILA — The Regional Intelligence Division of the Calabarzon police has arrested the last of three suspects in the alleged gang rape of a 20-year-old woman in Dasmariñas City, Cavite.
Authorities arrested the suspect, identified by the alias “Ipay,” at a store in Baclaran, Parañaque City, based on a warrant of arrest for qualified rape issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 129 in Dasmariñas City.
The two other suspects had earlier surrendered to the Dasmariñas City Police.
“Ang akala nya dahil sumuko na yung dalawa niyang kasama, hindi na siya titingnan ng mga awtoridad. Nagkaroon tayo ng information. Doon nakuha natin siya sa Baclaran,” said Col. Vicente Cabatingan, chief of the Calabarzon PNP Regional Intelligence Division.
The alleged gang rape happened in the early morning of January 18, 2026, inside a house in Barangay Paliparan, Dasmariñas City.
According to the victim, a friend brought her to a drinking session where she eventually became intoxicated and fell asleep.
When she woke up, she allegedly found one of the suspects on top of her and sexually assaulting her.
“Lumalabas, ito ay gang rape kasi tatlo yung kasamahan niya at yung mga yon ay ginalaw siya. So nakasuhan ito, itong mga suspects. Nakasuhan, nalabas ang warrant of arrest,” said Brig. Gen Dominic Baccay, regional director of the Calabarzon PNP.
The victim, who uses the alias “Julie,” said she is still struggling to recover from the traumatic experience. However, she said the arrest of all three suspects has eased some of the burden she has been carrying.
“Sana po dahil nahuli na po siya, sana po hindi na po gawin sa iba, sana hindi na po siya makalabas,” Julie said.
“Sobrang sakit po, sobrang traumatized po ako,” she added.
The last suspect initially denied the allegations but later admitted that he had done something to the victim and apologized.
Baccay called on victims of sexual abuse to break their silence and report their cases, vowing that authorities will track down perpetrators and ensure they face justice.
The suspect is on the Calabarzon PNP’s most-wanted list, and the court has recommended no bail for his temporary release.
