MANILA — The House of Representatives commended and honored Chris Lorenz Tanglao Fabian for his "extraordinary bravery and supreme sacrifice" to save his fellow students during the deadly shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City.
The lower chamber adopted on Tuesday House Resolution 1464, which recognized Fabian’s "exceptional heroism."
Fifteen-year-old Fabian was killed after reportedly holding the classroom door shut to stop the armed suspect, allowing his classmates time to escape to safety.
"The House of Representatives joins the Filipino people in honoring the life of Scout Chris Lorenz Tanglao Fabian, a young man whose valor will forever be etched in the nation’s memory and whose courage will continue to inspire future generations to uphold the enduring values of integrity, compassion, resilience, and unwavering love for one’s fellow Filipinos," the resolution signed by House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos, and House Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan stated.
"Had it not been for his extraordinary bravery, heroism, and instinct to save lives, additional students or teachers might have perished on that fateful day, rendering his singular act of valor a shining embodiment of the noblest Filipino values of bayanihan, courage, and love for one’s fellowmen," the House resolution added.
