MANILA — A weak southwest monsoon or Habagat may return and bring rainy weather over the western sections of southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao this weekend, according to PAGASA.
Cloudy skies and scattered rains may be experienced in Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, and Zamboanga Peninsula on Saturday and Sunday.
The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have sunny and warm conditions with possible localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening, particularly over Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Samar, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga.
The weak Habagat may persist through early next week.
The country is now at the tail-end of the southwest monsoon season, which typically lasts through the first half of October.
Meanwhile, the low pressure area previously located over northern Palawan has exited the Philippine area of responsibility Friday morning.
At 8 a.m., it was located 140 kilometers south of Kalayaan Islands, Palawan, in the middle of the West Philippine Sea.
