San Beda’s Matthew Cañeta. Handout photo/PYBC.MANILA — Grupong Bedista-San Beda and Converge-Coach T are set to fight for the Under-12 crown as the Philippine Youth Basketball Championship (PYBC) Growee Cup Finals get underway on Sunday at the Unilab High Court in Mandaluyong.
The winner-take-all knockout match is at 4:30 p.m., with San Beda banking on its 76-59 win over Eagles Basketball in the semifinals, while Converge hopes to put the cherry on top after escaping Vixen in a thriller, 62-61.
In the Under-11 Finals, Ateneo-Pilipinas battles Dan’s Basketbros.
Ateneo previously took down JSKILLS in the U11 semis in emphatic fashion, 67-39, while Dan’s Basketbros demolished San Beda College Alabang-B, 116-35.
In the Under-13 Finals, it will be GTU Arrows against A.V. Silo x LDBL.
GTU Arrows booked its Finals berth after dominating Xavier, 80-57, while A.V. Silo turned back El Cubo Basketball, 72-62.
Meanwhile, the Under-14, Under-15, and Under-16 semifinals will be settled early in the afternoon before the Finals later in the evening.
The U14 semis will open at 1 p.m., with Lukkas Basketball facing Atoy’s Porkchop at Court 1, and Flair battling Vixen at Court 2.
In U15, San Beda College-Alabang will face Grupong Bedista, while San Sebastian will hope to overcome Atoy’s Porkchop in the PYBC Growee Cup, which is presented by Ceelin Plus, HydroAid, Celeteque DermoScience, Myra, pH Care, Enervon, and Alaxan FR.
In U16, Grupong Bedista will collide with Converge, while San Beda Alabang will face Troter x Lam in the Growee Cup semis, which are also backed by Oak Group of Companies, Team Access-Official Nike Partner, Goodday Friz, Smart Sports, and The Printerie.
