Kaila Napolis secured a bronze medal in the 2026 Asian Games on Friday, injecting some spark into the campaign of the jiu jitsu team that has been rocked by early exits of world champions.
Napolis defeated Mongolia's Tsagaanbileg Altangerel in the bronze medal match of the women's -52kg, 2-0.
This is her second bronze in the continental showcase, having also won one in the 2022 Asiad in Hangzhou.
Her feat is a welcome sign for the jiu jitsu team, after world champions Annie Ramirez and Kimberly Custodio were eliminated early in their respective divisions.
