Amie Provido shone the brightest for Alas Pilipinas Women on Sunday night, unloading a game-high 19 points on 11 attacks, four blocks, and four aces in Philippines' 25-8, 25-2, 25-9 dismantling of Qatar in the classification round of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
It was a production worth praising, as Alas coach Taka Minowa opened his talk to POC Media singing praises for the La Salle middle blocker, as well as Nina Ytang who had four blocks en route to a seven-point total.
"Today, we are focusing on the middle blockers. Especially, Amie and Ytang, who were quite new on the team. They didn't play in the SEA V Cup, especially Amie.

"So, I think today, she's shining inside the court. I mean, it's a good thing naman. It's really good to see her performance today," said Minowa, who had his wife, Jaja Santiago-Minowa, cheering for them on the sidelines.
Minowa also lauded the team's mantra, despite crashing out of medal contention in the continental showpiece.
"We never gave up or we just kept on fighting no matter the score. That's our target today," said Minowa. "We keep on staying on our purpose to be 9th place. And I think this winning is going to be good for us -- gain the confidence and experience to make more better team."
Minowa and the Alas Women will take on Mongolia next, scheduled for Monday, September 21.
