Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons are looking inward—focusing on their strengths and overcoming their weaknesses—instead of fixating on their opponents at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
That was reminded to them as they demolished Bangladesh with a 21-6, 21-6 score line on Sunday at the Hekinan Ryokuchi Beach Court.
The beach volleyball pair, who are also the reigning Southeast Asian Games gold medalists, seeks to stay consistent, eyeing to show what they trained for in the continental showpiece.

"Kanina po, while nagwa-warm up kami, sinabi lang ni coach na hindi na namin iisipin 'yung kalaro namin. Kumbaga ba, isipin namin kung paano kami gumalaw and paano maging consistent 'yung mga strengths namin and paano namin tatrabahuhin 'yung mga weaknesses namin," Rondina told POC Media.
"So nakita naman namin kanina medyo may mga lapses, pero kahit papaano naagapan e nagawa ng paraan," she added.
"It's a great win pa rin, it's a great start for us. So first game pa lang 'yun, hindi pa doon natatapos," Pons added.
"Mahaba 'yung tournament na 'to. Ang next game namin is sa 25 pa. So sobrang importante talaga 'yung mga next few days kung paano namin i-recover 'yung sarili namin. Dapat hindi kami mawala sa focus namin, kung ano 'yung goal namin this tournament."
