After Boy Abunda said Alvin Aragon “crossed the line” in calling out personalities who supported their children after coming out, the TV host said he is still willing to engage in an open conversation with him.
“Does it have to happen immediately? Probably not. Mas maganda if may personal kami conversation off cam. Pero if just for the sake of the show, I’ll be honest, kung kapanahunan ng 'The Buzz,' go. Andoon na kami harap-harap. But ngayon hindi,” Abunda said in an interview after his “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” shoot in Quezon City.
“Alvin has a certain vulnerability. Beneath the angst and voice, he has a story. He is coming from somewhere. I don’t want to romanticize but may dahilan,” he added.

The King of Talk, however, stressed the discourse must remain respectful on both ends.
“Dapat may rules of engagement. Dapat mag-galangan tayo,” he stressed.
The couple’s interview was prompted by Izzy Trazona-Aragon’s appearance at the Sexbomb concert.
“When I was told that Alvin and Izzy were booked, result 'yan because of their appearance in the concert. Prior to that, our writers knew there been invitations for Izzy to appear on the show. Parang hindi ata pumapayag si [Alvin] maari. But that is speculation on our part. Parang ganon,” he said.
Abunda said he intentionally steered away from religion and LGBTQIA+ topics during the guesting of Aragon and his wife Izzy to prevent the discussion from becoming heated.
“They raised a point, let’s go to the point kay Izzy when Sofia announced she was going into drag. Naging public ata reaction nila na hindi tama. I am not sure. Sabi ko ayoko pumunta doon,” he recalled.
“I decided to just make it fun. They are coming from a space of faith. I did not ask about Sofia. I wanted peace. Hindi dahil takot ako. I wanted fun… I did not want to engage in a debate related to faith. Walang panalo doon. I especially did not want to engage in faith surrounding LGBT hindi tayo magkikita,” he reasoned.
Abunda explained that "The Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" is not the appropriate platform for a debate.

“Ayoko pumunta doon dahil 'pag nag-usap kami, marami ang pwede reaction. Is it going to be a debate in faith, an LGBT discourse? Ang delikado hindi lang si Alvin. 'Pag sinabi niya in my face mali at kasalanan pagiging gay, hindi ko pwede talikuran ang komunidad, sarili ko, at sarili kong paniniwala,” he said.
The host also emphasized that while he respects Aragon’s opinions and convictions, he does not believe these should be imposed on him, just as he would not impose his own views on others.
“Kasalanan ba ng isang magulang yakapin ang kanyang anak na LGBT with love and respect? 'Yung parenting style mo, huwag mo impose sa amin,” Abunda admonished. “When you named people you are imposing your faith on us. Ayoko. ‘Wag mo impose. Kung iyan ang paniniwala mo, sobra ang galang ko. But the moment you impose who you are and your faith — you are crossing a very dangerous line.”
