Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has obtained a temporary restraining order against a 31-year-old man whom she says is a total stranger to her.
The man allegedly trespassed at her Los Angeles home several times.
According to court documents cited by KABC, the man, identified as William Applegate, is accused of engaging in a pattern of increasingly disturbing behavior at the singer’s residence. Sabrina said she has never met William and has no desire to do so.
She first became aware of him on May 23, when he allegedly broke through the security fencing around her property and walked up to her front door.
Doorbell camera footage referenced in the filing reportedly shows William trying to open the door before her security team stepped in.
Los Angeles police responded and arrested him on a criminal trespassing charge.
The alleged harassment continued. Sabrina’s filing says that William returned in less than 24 hours, lingering in her driveway for about two hours, and then showed up again on May 25.
A later investigation conducted by her security team reportedly determined that his behavior dates back to April 20.
In the filings, Sabrina characterizes William as delusional and says she is afraid of what he might do next.
A police detective working on the case reinforced those worries, stating that William is mentally unstable and represents a clear, credible, and ongoing threat to the singer.
William has a court appearance scheduled for June 18.
Sabrina is an American singer and actress who first rose to fame as a teenager through her role on the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World.
She has since emerged as a major force in pop music. Her 2024 album Short n’ Sweet became one of the year’s biggest releases and earned her multiple Grammy nominations.
Hits like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” topped charts around the world and solidified her status as one of the defining pop voices of her generation.
Sabrina also enjoys a particularly strong fanbase in the Philippines.
She first visited the country in 2018 for a promotional tour, returned in 2019 for her Singular Tour, and most recently performed there in 2023 as part of her Emails I Can’t Send Tour.
