Following his momentous wins at this year’s Asian Games, Carlos Yulo returned home to the Philippines and was welcomed with a surprise from the people closest to his heart.
"After everything we went through before and during the Asian Games, we came home to this surprise from our people, my CHOSEN family 🙏🏻🤍," he posted on his Instagram page.
The athlete expressed his gratitude to God for surrounding him with people who supported him through both the difficult moments and his victories.
"Thank You, Lord, for giving me people who went through the hard days with us, celebrate every victory with us, and never left our side. Salamat, Panginoon, sa pagpanalo Mo sa amin 🥇," he said.
Carlos also thanked his girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, for welcoming him and his brother Karl Eldrew Yulo into her family and for continuously being there for them.
"Thank you mahal ko @chloeanjeleigh sa pag share mo ng pamilya mo sa amin ni @karll_yulooo, for loving us, looking after us, and making us feel that we are never alone," he remarked.
Carlos secured the Philippines’ first gold medal at the 20th Asian Games on September 24, emerging victorious in the men’s floor exercise final.
He added another major achievement to his campaign the following day, September 25, after capturing the gold medal in the vault final.
"2 GOLDS para sa Pilipinas! 🥇🥇🇵🇭 Salamat Panginoon sa gabay, lakas, at proteksyon. Maraming salamat po ulit sa lahat ng nagdasal, sumuporta, at naniwala. PUSO 💪🏻❤️," Carlos posted on his Instagram page following his wins.

After Carlos’ impressive two-gold medal run, Chloe also took to social media to celebrate his achievement and reflect on their journey together.
"Deja vu moment, from the Olympics to Asian Games 🥇🥇 Thank You Lord God for carrying us through this entire journey. For giving us strength when we needed it most, protecting us through every competition, and guiding us through every moment 🙏🏻 Congratulations mahal ko @c_edrielzxs. You did it again and I’m endlessly proud of you 🤍," she wrote.
