P-pop girl group MNL48 will conclude its promotional activities at the end of the month, its management announced Wednesday.
In a statement posted on the group's Facebook page, P.O.S. Inc. explained that the decision was made following "extensive discussions with all relevant parties."
"P.O.S. Inc. has made the difficult decision to conclude MNL48's activities as of the end of May 2026," the company said.
"After carefully considering the sustainability of the management structure, the future operating environment and the various conditions necessary to continue supporting the group in a stable manner, we have come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to continue MNL48's activities going forward."
As a parting gift, MNL48 unveiled late Wednesday a 2026 version of the music video for its viral hit "Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie."
"This work contains our gratitude toward all the fans who have supported us, as well as the heartfelt feelings of the members themselves," P.O.S said.
The management also thanked all of the fans and members of MNL48, and apologized "for the sudden nature of this announcement and for arriving at this difficult decision."
MNL48 is the Philippine-based sister group of hit J-pop act AKB48, with the local group typically performing Filipino-language versions of AKB48 songs.
The group's first generation of members — as its large lineup allows members to "graduate" and new ones to join — was selected through a segment on the ABS-CBN noontime variety show "It's Showtime."
