The Senate honored Monday P-pop group SB19 for its performance at the Lollapalooza Music Festival in the United States.
Authored by Sen. Bam Aquino, Resolution No. 545 honored the group for being the first Filipino act to perform at the Lollapalooza, held July 30 at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois.
Aquino said the Lollapalooza Music Festival is one of the world's premier annual music festivals.
"SB19's performance at Lollapalooza marked a significant milestone for Filipino artists, demonstrating the growing international recognition of Original Pilipino Music and expanding the presence of Philippine music on one of the world's foremost festival stages," Aquino said.
"While in Chicago for the Lollapalooza performance, SB19 was featured at a major league baseball game between the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees, where member Josh threw the ceremonial first pitch while the group's hit song 'Gento' was played in the stadium, reflecting the growing international recognition of Filipino artists and music," he said.

The resolution also pointed to performances in Japan as well their string of hits.
"SB19's participation in internationally renowned music festivals and global events underscores the growing global competitiveness of Filipino artists and highlights the immense potential of the Philippine creative industries to generate economic opportunities, strengthen the country's cultural influence, and elevate the Philippines' standing in the international creative economy."
Sens. Aquino, Risa Hontiveros, Joel Villanueva and Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan also delivered tributes to the quintet during the plenary session.
"Mahalagang kilalanin natin ang mga tagumpay na ito because every time a Filipino artist steps onto a global stage, they open that stage a little wider for the next Filipino who dreams of doing the same," Aquino said.
"Ibang klaseng saya po ang marinig ang musikang Pilipino sa entabladong iyon," Villanueva said, referring to Lollapalooza.
