A decades-spanning romance is getting a whole lot of love!
Apollo and Luna’s journey has audiences feeling all kinds of emotions — from kilig and joy to heartbreak and everything in between. But what exactly are they saying about “Always Yours, Never Mine”?
The latest Star Cinema film finally arrived in cinemas, and moviegoers wasted no time sharing their thoughts on Apollo (Joshua Garcia) and Luna’s (Julia Barretto) enduring love story.
Celebrities, critics, and fans got their first look during the film’s world premiere at SM Megamall on September 29, where the story drew emotional reactions. Tears were shed, stories were shared, and plenty of moviegoers walked out still trying to process everything they had just watched.
Among the first celebrities to share their thoughts were Alden Richards and Maris Racal, who both lingered on the many feelings stirred by the film.
Alden reflected on the push-and-pull of emotions he felt, while praising director Cathy Garcia-Sampana for her expertise, along with Joshua and Julia for taking on what he described as their “most mature roles” yet. He said, “'Always Yours, Never Mine’ is a film to be watched by people [who are] in love with love.”
Maris, meanwhile, highlighted the story’s emotional weight and realism.
“Ang sakit but I'm just happy that the characters got what they wanted,” she shared. “Masakit talaga s’ya, and very realistic.”
Julia’s sister, Dani Barretto, also had plenty to say after experiencing the film. Fresh from the screening and still teary-eyed, Dani described the movie as a beautiful experience that would leave audiences with plenty to process.
“It's so beautiful. Lalabas talaga kayo na 'yung heart n’yo, ang dami n’yong mafe-feel,” she said. “Definitely, you're gonna love this film.”
Among other celebrities who shared their thoughts was Ruru Madrid, partner of “Always Yours, Never Mine” actress Bianca Umali.
Ruru reflected on how the film continued to stay with him even after the credits rolled: “Maraming naiwan sa puso't isipan ko na feeling ko mamaya ko pa s’ya mas maiintindihan.”
Meanwhile, Kaori Oinuma, River Joseph, and Emilio Daez teased what audiences can expect from the story.
“Merong tuwa, may kilig pa rin... hindi pa rin nawawala yung kilig! May sakit, may kirot,” Kaori shared.
On the other hand, River and Emilio pointed to one particular scene that caught their attention: “Grabe 'yung scene sa hotel room! Abangan n’yo na lang po.”
Even those who came to the premiere for a date night found themselves caught up in Apollo and Luna’s emotional journey.
Celebrity couple Carlo Aquino and Charlie Dizon weighed in on the film’s emotional rollercoaster, with Charlie admitting, “Di ko ma-explain 'yung emotions ko. Parang rollercoaster ride 'yung pelikula.”
Carlo, meanwhile, described the film as giving off the feeling of a “classic, classic movie.”
That rollercoaster of emotions was echoed by content creators Cong TV and Viy Cortez, who summed up their experience with a mix of feelings: “Ang sakit, ang sarap, ang saya, lahat ng emosyon!”
Ralph de Leon and AZ Martinez also shared their experience inside the cinema, with Ralph recalling the audience’s reactions to the film’s unexpected turns.
He gushed, “Grabe 'yung sigaw namin kanina sa cinema, sa mga unexpected na mga kaganapan!”
The conversation didn’t end with the world premiere. Social media has been catching up with all the feels, with moviegoers sharing their reactions and realizations online!
Movie critic Goldwin Reviews gave the film 4/5 stars, particularly taking notice of Joshua and Julia’s performances as they portray Apollo and Luna throughout different periods in their lives.
“Because the story spans half a lifetime, JoshLia portray their characters at different ages and stages. Watching them move through each chapter feels like revisiting the films they’ve made together over the years,” Goldwin wrote on Facebook.

Director Mae Cruz Alviar praised Joshua and Julia for their performances and on-screen chemistry, seen via her Instagram story on September 30.
She wrote: “You keep getting better and better at your craft. Ang husay niyo! Your chemistry onscreen is undeniable. Keep doing projects together please!”

Director Easy Ferrer also shared how deeply Apollo and Luna’s story affected him, writing, “I swear I would always tear up every time an ‘Apollo Luna era’ ended in the film. And then their story would go on and I would always root for them over and over.”

Meanwhile, audiences on X have been turning their feelings about the film into their own reflections on love.
User @dailyjayvz wrote, “Some people remain ours in memory, but never in reality.”
User @spacewolf02 shared an emotional realization about choosing and being chosen: “Hindi lahat ng taong pinipili ka, ikaw talaga ang hinahanap ng puso. At hindi lahat ng taong hinahanap ka, handang piliin ka.”

Facebook has also been flooded with emotional takeaways from viewers.
Francine Garcia playfully warned audiences about the film’s emotional impact, writing, “The movie was dahan dahan... uumpisahan kang iremind how beautiful love is hanggang [papipiliin] ka kung ‘MAHAL MO O GUSTO MO?’”

Jeilo Villa, meanwhile, praised Joshua and Julia’s performances, writing, “Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto brought so [many] emotions to Apollo and Luna. The story reminds us that sometimes, someone can be always yours in your heart, but never truly yours in life.”

Maggie On Love shared another reflection from the film, writing, “Hindi pala sapat na ikaw ang pinipili araw-araw. Minsan, kailangan mo ring itanong sa sarili mo kung ikaw ba talaga ang hinahanap ng puso niya — or ikaw lang ang taong nandiyan.”

With so many moviegoers taking away something different from Apollo and Luna’s story, “Always Yours, Never Mine” continues to leave audiences with one big question: what does it really mean to love someone, and is being chosen always enough?
