Multi-talented actress Yassi Pressman is officially back on primetime television as one of the cast members of Dreamscape’s newest action-drama series, “Roja.”
During her guest appearance on TFC’s talk show “BRGY" hosted by Bianca Gonzalez on November 24, Yassi opened up about her comeback to ABS-CBN and the challenges she went through in portraying Ayen.
When asked if she enjoyed playing Ayen so far, Yassi admitted how thrilled she was to take on something new. “I’m very, very happy to be back home. I’m very, very happy to be with ABS-CBN and Dreamscape again… This year, sabi ko ‘pag bumalik ako gusto ko kakaiba naman. I did horror [genre] this year, and then “Roja” kay Ayen.” Her character, she revealed, carries one of the story’s biggest secrets---a revelation that convinced her to join the project.
Breaking away from her romcom and leading lady portrayals, Yassi embraces the challenge of stepping into a more complex, suspense-driven character. She recalled that her very first sequence on set was also the most challenging scene she has done so far. “There’s a lot of drama, sampalan, lots of tension, sigawan, siyempre. But I think because I’ve never done a scene like that, dun ako sobrang kinabahan.” Yassi mentioned that she received guidance from co-actors Raymond Bagatsing (as Magnus Roja) and Lorna Tolentino (as Greta Roja) in executing the scene. “Nararamdaman mo ‘yung energy ng bawat isa eh, parang dun na lang ako sumasandal, and I just react as well.”
Yassi also shared her excitement about sharing the screen with Kyle Echarri, Donny Pangilinan, and Maymay Entrata, praising the lead stars for their dedication. “They really want to be there in the action and drama scenes. Magaling ‘yung two boys talaga and mabait din. On and off screen for “Roja,” we have so much fun.”
The actress added that the enthusiasm of the new generation---even influencers making their acting debut---reminded her of her own beginnings and fueled her passion further. For Yassi, the set of “Roja” feels like a supportive community.
Adding to the unique experience, the cast and crew lived together during locked-in taping at La Playa Roja, which served both as a filming location and a resort. “It’s a beautiful set. ‘Yung La Playa Roja is really a resort that we all enjoy and live in,” Yassi shared.
On rest days, Yassi enjoyed biking, beach activities, and fitness routines. She highlighted that Kyle and Donny often spent their lunch breaks at the gym, keeping the energy high both on and off screen.
From teasers and early episodes, “Roja" already promises shocking revelations. Yassi teased that the surprises are only beginning, “Mas marami pa sa gitna ng kwento ‘yung maiikot ng storya ng “Roja.” First week pa lang ang dami ng pasabog, here and there.” She assured viewers that the script itself left her baffled with its twists. “Speaking from the script, it’s really good.” Yassi encouraged Kapamilya fans to keep watching.
With Ayen holding one of “Roja’s” biggest secrets, Yassi Pressman’s return to primetime is set to deliver a performance unlike anything audiences have seen from her before.
