Tagged as the ‘Gen Z Bestie’ during her time co-hosting “Pinoy Big Brother,” and now widely celebrated as one of “ASAP XP’s” New Gen Divas, the multitalented Alexa Ilacad was the ideal celebrity guest for the September 5 episode of “Everybody, Sing!”
Aside from crooning Moonstar88’s “Torete” for a short while and completing the lyrics to Lea Salonga’s version of “Nandito Ako” with the Songbayanang Mag-Best Friends, Alexa went on to share more of her favorite songs that make up her personal playlist in this exclusive interview.
When it comes to her go-to karaoke songs, Alexa usually prefers the hard-hitting tracks by the iconic band My Chemical Romance, particularly “Welcome to the Black Parade” and “Teenagers.” Outside of that, she remains very loyal to Moonstar88, as shown through her live vocal rendition of “Torete,” before participating in the “Singko Blangko” round.
Depending on her mood, Alexa’s commute playlist changes, but today she opted for the hypnotic “She Did It Again” by Tyla and Zara Larsson. Meanwhile, her “last song syndrome” culprit is definitely “Sinta” by BGYO—which makes perfect sense, considering that Gelo Rivera, her on-screen partner from “The Chambermaid’s Daughter,” is the leader of the P-Pop boy group.
As for motivating songs, DNA’s “Don’t Ask Me Why” fits the description, especially since it became the theme song for Alexa’s iWant original series, “Miss Behave.” The actress-singer also revealed that her choice of motivating music boils down to the characters she would portray. “Actually, depende sa character ko kasi minsan gumagawa din ako ng playlist para sa characters ko,” Alexa explained.
The Cinematic Orchestra’s “To Build a Home” was mentioned as a tear-inducing track for Alexa, while the Bleachers’ “Let’s Get Married” frequently gives her good vibes. Speaking more about OPM, Alexa named Amiel Sol’s tender-hearted “You Make It Right” as her favorite and Rico Blanco’s love-filled “Balisong” as the one that reminds her of a special person in her life.
Finally, Janine Berdin emerged as Alexa’s favorite OPM artist, with “Antoxic” as her favorite song. On the international side, Alexa straight away picked Olivia Rodrigo, alongside her recent releases “Begged” and “The Cure.”
