The Philippines’ first queer dating reality show that has captured the hearts of LGBTQIA+ viewers and allies in recent years is finally making its highly anticipated return for a fourth season—“Sparks Camp”!
And while fans eagerly wait to meet the newest batch of campers, let’s get to know Justin Ryan Fajardo, or simply Jury.
Dubbed “The Shy Achiever,” this 26-year-old, 5-foot-10 charmer from Tanay, Rizal, is definitely more than just a pretty face. While Jury may be naturally reserved, his accomplishments speak volumes. He graduated from college magna cum laude and went on to build a career as a Quality Officer in a business process outsourcing company.
But behind these impressive milestones is a story of quiet perseverance.
As the eldest of five children of a taxi-driver father and a stay-at-home mother, Jury saw his family frequently had to move from one place to another because of housing instability, exposing him early on to the challenges that came with living a modest life. But instead of letting these hardships hinder him from achieving his dreams, Jury turned them into fuel to keep moving forward in life.
His journey of self-discovery began during senior high school, when Jury started embracing his identity as a cisgender gay man. It was around this time that he fell for his classmate, "Ian," who became his first boyfriend. Their relationship, however, was short-lived after “Ian” confessed that he wasn't ready for a relationship, only for Jury to later discover that Ian had already moved on with someone else. The experience left him feeling abandoned, but it also became an early lesson in acceptance, vulnerability, and the bittersweet realities of heartbreak.
Years later, Jury found love again with "Mark," who won him over with thrilling and memorable motorcycle rides, as well as showing him genuine and heartwarming dedication that made their relationship especially meaningful. He considers this his most significant romantic affair, as they already reached the point of meeting each other's families and even envisioning a future together.
However, just like his first love, that relationship eventually came to an end. The heartbreak left Jury questioning whether trust could be rebuilt, but it didn’t completely close his heart to the possibility of love. Instead, he emerged hopeful—but understandably more cautious about giving his heart away.
After all the challenges and heartbreaks that he went through, Jury is now finally making room for love. Will he finally find the spark he's been looking for?
