From being a nine-year-old girl showcasing her cooking skills on television to becoming the “Sassy Unica Hija ng Taguig” inside Bahay ni Kuya, Bianca De Vera has long captivated audiences with her vibrant personality and natural screen presence.
As she takes on a new role in the latest iWant vertical series, “Half Sisters,” revisit Bianca De Vera’s acting journey and the characters that have shaped her career in this Kapamilya Spotlight feature.
Bianca first made her television debut in 2011 as a contestant on “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition,” where she finished in ninth place. After the competition, she focused on her studies before returning to the public eye in 2020 through TikTok. Her viral and entertaining videos quickly caught the attention of viewers, marking her return to the spotlight.
In 2021, Bianca officially began her acting journey after signing with talent agency Rise Artists Studio. This marked a new chapter in her career, opening the door to acting opportunities in various projects.
She made her acting debut in 2022 in the romantic drama series “2 Good 2 Be True,” where she played Patricia “Pat” Fajardo, Ali’s (Kathryn Bernardo) supportive younger sister. In the series, Pat helps their mother run her live-selling business.
Bianca’s acting portfolio continued to expand as she starred in the iWant digital series “Teen Clash,” an adaptation of the popular Wattpad story of the same name. She brought the character of Yannie Seung to life, playing Zoe’s (Jayda Avanzado) loyal best friend.
The Kapamilya actress also became part of the historic first teleserye collaboration between ABS-CBN and GMA, “Unbreak My Heart.” In the series, Bianca portrayed Gwen Zhang, Alexandra’s (Gabbi Garcia) half-sister, whose story takes a romantic turn when she falls in love with Jerry (Will Ashley).
A major breakthrough in Bianca’s career came when she joined “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition” as one of its housemates. Her stint inside Kuya’s house further boosted her popularity, helping her gain an even bigger following after the show.
She later appeared in the Philippine adaptation of “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” as Bella, a psychiatric patient struggling with anxiety and depression stemming from a troubled relationship and her strict father.
Fresh from her “PBB” stint, Bianca joined the iWant’s mystery-thriller series “The Secrets of Hotel 88” alongside her fellow former housemates. She portrayed Jade Almazan, the youngest among her siblings, who fights to protect her family’s claim to Hotel 88 against the rival Fernandez brothers.
Following her memorable onscreen appearances, Bianca now takes on a new challenge as she ventures into comedy in the latest iWant vertical microdrama, “Half Sisters.” Joining fellow “PBB” alums Esnyr Ranollo and Brent Manalo, she brings the lighthearted humor and infectious personality that viewers have come to love from her online content.
As seen in the official trailer, Bianca already showcases her versatility as Emily, who discovers that she is a manananggal—a mythical Filipino creature whose torso detaches from the rest of its body at night. As a sibling rivalry brews between Emily and Esnyr’s character, the two become entangled in a love triangle with Brent’s character, Pancho.
“Half Sisters” also marks Star Creatives’ first venture into the vertical microdrama format. Directed by Julius Alfonso, the series brings a light and entertaining story to the short-form, mobile viewing format that has been gaining popularity among audiences.
“Half Sisters" will premiere this September 25, with all episodes dropping exclusively on iWant.
