BDO self-service forex machines at the NAIA Terminal 3. Handout
MANILA — BDO said it has rolled out 24-hour self-service currency exchange machines at NAIA Terminal 3, allowing arriving passengers to instantly convert foreign banknotes into local currency.
The Sy-led lender said the automated kiosks enable travelers to convert US dollars, euros, and Japanese yen into Philippine pesos within minutes, eliminating the need to fill out manual paper forms or queue for teller assistance.
The automated machine combines real-time banknote authentication with advanced security features, accepting up to 30 bills at a time and dispensing both peso bills and coins alongside a printed transaction receipt. To ensure identity verification and transaction security, the process requires passengers to scan their passport and undergo a photo capture at the kiosk prior to converting their cash.
"Travelers today expect convenience at every touchpoint of their journey," said Cora Mallillin, BDO executive vice president and head of branch banking group.
"With the launch of the Currency Exchange Machine, we’re giving customers greater flexibility and control over their Forex needs. In just a few simple steps, they can securely access peso [banknotes] with no delays."
Located directly past immigration clearance in front of the bank's airport branch, the service operates around the clock. BDO said the initiative comes as consumer preferences shift toward automated, digital travel solutions, offering competitive exchange rates right at the point of arrival.
