MANILA (UPDATED) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said that a new wage order was approved, granting a P60 increase for workers in private companies and businesses in Metro Manila.
Wage Order No. 28 was recently approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR).

The order raising the minimum wage for non-agricultural workers from P695 to P755 and granted the same P60 daily increase to agricultural workers.
It was published on September 11, Friday and is expected to take effect on September 26 or 27.

DOLE said the adjustment aims to boost workers' purchasing power and support inclusive economic growth, in line with the commitment of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The wage order was issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board–National Capital Region following the standard tripartite wage-setting process, which involved consultations among labor, employer, and government representatives.
Earlier, a Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) barred the implementation of Wage Order No. 27, which granted the P85 increase in the salary of minimum wage earners in the NCR.
"DOLE reminded employers to comply with the new wage rates upon effectivity and assured workers that the Department will monitor implementation," said the Labor department.
