MANILA — The Taguig City government has disputed what it called a "misleading narrative" in a video that Sen. Panfilo Lacson posted of alleged illegal reclamation on the shore of Laguna de Bay.
Lacson had posted a video of joint on-site inspection of the Office of the Ombudsman, Philippine Reclamation Authority, Land Registration Authority, and the Department of Public Works and Highways on the Taguig side of Laguna de Bay.
He said illegal reclamation activities continue in the area, adding "If this isn’t a total display of impunity and disrespect for the law, I don’t know what is."

But the city government said the video that Lacson posted "involves a parcel of land claimed by several private individuals and a neighborhood association" and that it had not issued "any permit or authority" to the claimants.
It also called the video "curated footage...presented to the public alongside sweeping conclusions" on alleged illegal activity.

“We must not allow unsubstantiated claims, misleading narratives, or innuendo to undermine the very cause we seek to advance," the city government said of anti-corruption efforts.
The city is led by Mayor Lani Cayetano, wife of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano and sister-in-law of Sen. Pia Cayetano.
Lacson has been looking into allegedly anomalous projects in Taguig, which the Cayetanos have called selective and an attempt to intimidate them.
Lacson’s team has submitted information he has gathered to the Office of the Ombudsman, which has been conducting a preliminary fact-finding investigation on the matter.
