Businessman shot in the face after suspects snatch his gold necklace in Batangas

STA. TERESITA, Batangas — A 78-year-old businessman was shot in the face moments after motorcycle-riding suspects snatched his gold necklace in Barangay Sinipian, Sta. Teresita, Batangas on Tuesday afternoon.

Sta. Teresita Municipal Police Station chief Maj. Charles Fulache said the incident happened at around 5:17 p.m. while the victim was sitting in front of his house.

According to a witness, the suspects arrived on a motorcycle and approached the victim. They reportedly grabbed his gold necklace before shooting him in the face.

The victim was rushed to Taal Polymedic Hospital and Medical Center and was later transferred to a hospital in Balayan for surgery.

Authorities are now conducting backtracking and forward-tracking operations to obtain CCTV footage that could help identify the suspects.

Police are also coordinating with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to verify the motorcycle’s license plate number as the investigation continues.
