Sibol Identity V medal bid came to an end after falling to Malaysia, 0-2, in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Asian Games on Wednesday at the Aichi-Sky Expo Hall.
Sibol entered the knockout stages after suffering a difficult Group A stage, falling back-to-back sweeps against Thailand and Chinese Taipei, 0-2, before finally gaining its momentum against Indonesia, 2-1, to secure their spot in the quarterfinals.

However, Malaysia proved too strong in the knockout stage, sweeping Philippines, 2-0, to end Sibol’s medal hopes.

Representing the Philippines in the quarterfinal matchup were Johannes Glenn Jucio, Joshua Francis Gumaro, Joachim Santino Timtiman, Psalm David Cortez, Sander Joseph Gallo, Xyrel Terrence Julian and Japhet Jay Onquit.

Malaysia now has advanced to the semifinals, while the Philippines exited the competition without a medal.
