MANILA — 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and 2024 Paris Olympic Games double-gold medalist Carlos Yulo on Monday revealed that he and Chloe San Jose have been engaged for nine months.
Following his recent glory in the continental meet, the 26-year-old Yulo shared the news on social media, saying San Jose said “yes” nine months ago.
“Nine months ago, she said ‘Yes.’ All I can say and all I can feel is that I am truly blessed,” Yulo wrote. “Blessed to love you. Blessed to be loved by you. Blessed to have you as my fiancée and, soon, as my forever.”
San Jose, for her part, briefly shared how her relationship with Yulo progressed from a simple greeting to where they are now.
“For nine months, we’ve been treasuring this beautiful secret between us, quietly smiling to ourselves and taking our time to cherish it, knowing that one day we’d finally share it with the world,” she wrote in a separate post.
“It started with a simple ‘Hi, I’m a fan po.’ Neither of us could have known where that little message would take us. And from there, life became a collection of airports, competitions, hotel rooms, long training days, little adventures, big dreams, and countless moments in between,” she added.
Last week, Yulo earned a pair of gold medals for the Philippines in the Asian Games, ruling the men’s floor exercise final on Thursday with 14.666 points before winning the vault on Friday with 14.599.
Yulo and his younger brother, 2026 Asian Games bronze medalist Karl Eldrew, have returned to the country alongside San Jose and were welcomed by people close to them.
“After everything we went through before and during the Asian Games, we came home to this surprise from our people, my chosen family,” Yulo wrote in a separate post.
