Alas Pilipinas Women's captain Jia de Guzman said Sunday that their lopsided win over Qatar definitely boosted their confidence in the classification round of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
Despite just fighting for pride and better placement in the continental showcase, the Philippine women's national volleyball team showed no mercy against Qatar, limiting the young squad to just one-digit scoring per set, 25-8, 25-2, 25-9, on Sunday at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium.
With the dominant triumph, de Guzman said that they are indeed "hungry for more."

"I think, in terms of confidence, malaking bagay sa 'min to get our first win. But at the same time, we're hungry for more," de Guzman told POC Media.
Despite losses against China and Kazakhstan in the preliminaries, they are absorbing those as lessons learned, especially for the young core of Alas Women.
"With what we showed with China and Kazakhstan, we saw na may potential talaga. Pero we need more experience. Every game, what we go through whether it's a win or a loss, may natututunan kami," said the national team skipper.
"Today, getting a win in the Asian Games, big boost 'yon for our confidence. And we'd like to get another one tomorrow."
The de Guzman-captained squad is set for a battle against Mongolia on Monday, September 21.
