Back to reprise his role in director Kip Oebanda’s 2017 film Bar Boys, actor Carlo Aquino returned with original cast members Kean Cipriano, Enzo Pineda, and Rocco Nacino in the sequel, Bar Boys: After School. The sequel is set one decade after the first film and focuses on what happened to the four friends after graduating from law school. The film is also one of the eight competing entries in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
Carlo, who admitted he had noticeably lost a lot of weight, admitted to the press during the MMFF Parade of Stars event last December 19 his health struggles this year. After working on multiple projects on television and in film, the talented actor revealed just how far his health declined these past few months.
“Muntik na (ma-operahan) kasi nung ginagawa namin itong pelikula na ito, actually halos sabay sabay kasi ako this year, yung It’s Okay To Not Be Okay, yung The Time That Remains, yung Bar Boys, tapos may pelikula kami ni Bela (Padilla) which is next year po ata, sa March, so parang nag-decline yung health ko and nakakita sila ng parang bara sa puso ko. They had to check. Fortunately, hindi kailangan ng stent but siyempre nangayayat ako. Ngayon nakakabalik balik na. Medyo humealthy na ulit kahit papaano."

The Bar Boys star was relieved when he found out that he would not have to undergo any major operation but just needed a complete lifestyle change that included cutting out alcohol from his life completely and taking maintenance medication everyday.
“Wala naman (opera) pero dahil nasa tamang edad na tayo (laughs), madami na akong maintenance, for cholesterol, for high blood. Hindi na ako nag-va-vape, nag-quit na. Ang pinaka-bisyo ko na lang talaga ngayon is kape. And my daughter and my wife (laughs). Actually yung inom, tinigil ko na nung 2022 kasi nga, may uric acid ako (laughs). Di ba, lakas maka-senior!” he shared.

Now at 40 years old, Carlo revealed the secret to maintaining his youthful looks and easygoing vibe in person. “Sabi ko nga, na-master ko na yung pag-re-reframe. Halimbawa, may mabigat na nangyayari sa buhay ko, kailangan ko mag-reframe para may ibang perspective dun sa problema or dun sa pinagdadaanan. Kaya siguro hindi tayo tumatanda,” he added.
