MANILA -- Comedy Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas shared she was surprised that “Tanging Ina” has made a comeback years after its release, going viral anew as it is being used in various social media content and memes across different platforms.
“Marami nagco-comment sa IG [Instagram] ko. Viral ka. Sabi ko ano yun? Iyon pala yung mga nag-hyrox na ang bilis. Si Lady Gaga kumakanta, Dua Lipa kinakanta [ng] 'Tanging Ina.' Ang cute,” she said Sunday in Pasig City.
The actress said she was especially fond of the comments section, as she found it amusing to see it flooded with references from the popular film franchise.
“Ang iconic—alam nila sina Rowena. Lahat ng anak ko kilala nila. Ano nangyayari? Amazing. Thank you Lord. Grabe,” she said.
Delas Alas embraced the franchise’s resurgence online, calling it a good sign as she marks her comedy comeback on the big screen with “Batang Paco.”
“Namiss ko gumawa ng comedy. Ang saya. Gusto ko pa gumawa ng marami,” she said.
“Batang Paco” is led by comedian Empoy Marquez.
“Tungkol ito sa ulirang ama, single, at tinataguyod ang anak mabuhay ng marangal,” he explained.
Also part of the action-comedy is Mon Confiado.
“Hindi ko pa nagagampanan role ko dito, kontrabida,” he joked. “Pero kahit kontrabida ako, ibang klase pagka-kontrabida nito, kakaiba yung atake this time.”
“Batang Paco” will hit cinemas nationwide on February 18, 2026.
