MANILA -- He made a promise, and he fulfilled it.
Epy Quizon has turned to social media to share his life's newest milestone -- graduating from college.
On Instagram, the actor posted his graduation photos from De La Salle University, nearly three decades after he decided to pause his studies.
He said his achievement is not just for himself, but also for his parents and loved ones.
"Dear Self, thirty years ago, in 1996, you walked the halls of De La Salle University just a thesis away from graduation. Fear and circumstance pulled you away, and survival became more important than ceremony," he wrote.
"But you made a promise. Through work, loss, responsibility, and time, that promise stayed quietly in your heart. Dad didn't get to see this day. Mama, turning 80 soon, will," he added.
For Quizon, graduating is more than an academic achievement for him.
"This diploma is more than paper. It is a promise kept. A prayer answered. A legacy for your children. It was never too late," he declared, as he told himself: "You finished what you started and never did you fail."
Quizon, one of the children of the late King of Comedy Dolphy, is currently part of the stage play "About Us but Not About Us."
