Cardi B opened up about why she decided to expand her business ventures beyond music.
Aside from her career as a recording artist, Cardi launched her haircare line, Grow Good early this year.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the rapper shared that becoming an entrepreneur was driven by her desire to build something of her own that she could leave to her children.
“I was panicking. It’s like, yo, I leave this earth and my kids [are] going to have just music royalties that they’re most [likely] going to have to be arguing people about it,” she pointed out.
“They’re going to have a couple of properties and a couple of liquid money, but it’s like what is something that God forbid something happens to me, I leave behind that is for them?” she said.
Cardi added that she sees her business as something her children can eventually inherit.
“This is, God forbid, something happened to me, this is theirs,” she remarked.
Cardi is currently a mom of four.
In the same interview, Cardi teased about releasing new music soon. "Even this year, I'm gonna be dropping little things, little by little," she shared.
When asked what her new songs will be about, she replied: "I've just been having an insane year so I'm just gonna talk a lot about what's been going on this past like couple of months," she remarked.
It was in April 2026, when Cardi launched her haircare line. “The aha moment when I felt like I needed my own brand [was] when I kept seeing people try … the mask that I keep doing to grow my hair,” she said in a previous interview with PEOPLE.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Vogue Arabia, Cardi reflected on balancing motherhood with the demands of her career.
“I try my best to have my kids around me as much as possible, but sometimes I can’t be with them. Mothers have to make sacrifices,” she said.
“I hope that my kids look at what I do and understand, ‘Mom was working her ass off,'" she added. “She wasn’t clubbing, she wasn’t dating, she wasn’t partying ... Instead, she was making sacrifices for a better living, you know what I’m saying?”
