MANILA -- The Philippine Film Industry Month ended their month-long celebration by giving recognition to movies, actors and production outfits who continue to keep the local film industry thriving and alive.
Several honors and awards were given to movies and actors during the event, like iconic films that have been digitally restored.
Charo Santos accepted the commemorative poster of "Itim;" Rez Cortez for "Insiang;" Ian de Leon accepted for his late mother and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor who was part of the iconic film "Minsa'y Isang Gamu-Gamo;" Elizabeth Oropesa for "Nunal sa Tubig;" and Gloria Diaz for "Ganito Kami Noon, Paano kayo Ngayon."

Annual Achievement Awards were also given to film and actors who gave honor to the country, including Ryan Machado, for his movie "Raging" at the 23rd Film Festival in Rome, Italy.
"Filipiñana" lead star Jorrybell Agoto was also recognized.
Agoto, who is currently battling cancer, was unable to personally receive the award. AKTOR PH's Iza Calzado received it in on her behalf, and read a message from Agoto's mother and brother, with the family asking for prayers for her recovery.
Ruby Ruiz from Filipino-Australian production "First Light", was also recognized. This all-Filipino cast film is Australia’s official entry to the Academy Awards Best International Feature Film.
Hilda Koronel opens up about why she moved to the US
“Sana nga makapasok (sa Oscars), we’re all praying for that. Sobra akong natutuwa kasi among all Australian films that were submitted for consideration, first time na napili ng Australian screening committee. Sobrang flattering, kasi it’s all in Tagalog. Para piliin ng isang Australian committee and to submit to Oscars as their entry, malaking bagay. Ibig sabihin, language wasn’t a barrier,” said Ruiz.
The women of another co-production between the Philippines, France and Switzerland entitled "Enjoy Your Stay" were also given recognition. Mercedes Cabral, Anna Luna, Irma Adlawan, Donna Cariaga, Madeleine Nicolas and Hasmine Killip all received Annual Achievement Awards from the FDCP.
Lifetime achievement awards were also handed to Tito Valiente, Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino, Hilda Koronel and Viva's Vic del Rosario.
