Olympic and Asian Games gold medalist Carlos Yulo gave fans a glimpse of how he secretly prepared for his engagement proposal to longtime partner Chloe San Jose, including the moment he bought the two rings he gave her.
On Instagram, Carlos shared a behind-the-scenes video of himself buying the engagement rings in December 2025, admitting that he had to tell Chloe a “white lie” to keep his plans a secret.
“This was the only time I ever lied to you, mahal ko hehe 😅🙏🏻 I remember how excited and kabado ako that day, knowing I was about to do something that would change our lives in the most beautiful way 💍,” Carlos wrote.
“Mahal na mahal kita mahal ko @chloeanjeleigh 🤍” he added.
The Filipino double gold medalist also revealed why he decided to buy two engagement rings instead of just one.
“Pabalik na ulit kami sa gym. Nabili ko na yung ring and dalawa yun, kasi naka-2 gold medal ako. Dapat ikaw din,” Carlos expressed.
Carlos also admitted that he was both excited and nervous as he waited to finally give the rings to Chloe, saying: “I’m so happy and kinakabahan. Ilang linggo na akong kinakabahan. Sana magustuhan mo mahal. Love you!”

Carlos and Chloe surprised fans on September 28 when they revealed in their vlog that they had actually gotten engaged months earlier.
Chloe shared that the couple had kept the engagement a secret since December 18, 2025, choosing to enjoy the milestone privately before eventually sharing it with the public.
“Our little secret since December 18 2025… 🤍💍For 9 months, we’ve been treasuring this beautiful secret between us, quietly smiling to ourselves and taking our time to cherish it, knowing that one day we’d finally share it with the world,” Chloe said.
In their vlog, Carlos surprised Chloe with the two engagement rings, placing one on each of her ring fingers. He explained that he wanted both of Chloe’s hands to have a ring whenever they held each other’s hands.
Carlos also recalled how difficult it was to keep the engagement plans from Chloe, who was already familiar with his day-to-day activities.
“Nagsimula talaga siya pumasok sa isip ko before ako pumunta sa Japan for training camp. September 27 talagang hindi na ako makatulog and sobrang kabado kasi iniisip ko pa paano siya ipreprepare and also alam lahat ni Chloe talaga yung mga ginagawa ko–– doon ako pinakanahirapan talaga,” Carlos recalled planning their engagement last year.
For Carlos, the two rings were also a way of recognizing the role Chloe played in his journey as an athlete and being one of his sources of inspiration and motivation as he pursued his Olympic dreams.
“Si Chloe talaga yung tumulong sa akin magkaroon ng two gold medals sa Olympics. Para sa akin, siya yung gold medal ng puso ko so dalawang engagement ring yung binigay ko sa kanya,” Carlos expressed.
“Dahil tinulungan mo ako maabot yung pangarap ko. Sobrang mahal na mahal kita, mahal. It’s another ring for you. Hindi siya traditional–– maybe ako lang gumawa nito. Pero I’m really grateful, this is for you–– this is my gift for you,” he added.
