Feel the breeze of summer in September with Nigel Tay's latest single, "Manhattan Beach."
R&B singer-songwriter Nigel Tay released his single "Manhattan Beach" on Aug. 26, prior to performing for a Filipino audience for the first time as he opened Filipino-American artists Jesse Barrera and Albert Posis' The Best Night Of Your Life Tour on Sept. 10 at the Music Museum.
The Malaysian artist raved about the Manila crowd following the concert, calling it one of the best he has ever experienced. Another Filipino thing that brought Nigel excitement was getting to perform at the Wish 107.5 Bus.
His new song Manhattan Beach is a pop R&B track that captures the carefree feeling of summer, new romance and those tiny, little moments that make you wish for the day to never end. Nigel brought together memories of crazy waves, cool breezes, blue skies and everything that constitutes the perfect summer day, as he recalled the time he and his friends landed in LA after graduating college in Boston.
After joining and gaining recognition in The Voice of China in 2018, The Shanghai-based musician has primarily made music for a Chinese audience, as well as contributed to the music of several Greater China-based artists with his skills as a songwriter, producer and instrumentalist. Now, he is looking forward to releasing more English-language songs as it is his mother tongue.
Nigel released his first full-length album "CRÉMA," separated into three parts, in 2025, following his Turn To Gold headline tour in China. The Chinese music market, Nigel said, is mainly interested in ballads, but the small indie, R&B scene in which he's a part of is also up and coming.
The sought-after songwriter and producer brought his warm, soulful vocals across Southeast Asia throughout the month of September as he continued opening for Jesse and Albert. He is set to bring his talents to Singapore on Nov. 19, performing at the ATP Live House as an opener for Canadian artist Jesse Gold.
