Former UNIS member Gehlee Dangca is ready to take on a new chapter in her career as a solo artist. She also hopes to collaborate with the nation’s girl group, BINI.

In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, Gehlee shared how much she admires the Filipina girl group and expressed her excitement at the possibility of working with her “ates.”

“Yung mga ate ko sa BINI po. When we were with UNIS, we did a ‘Pantropiko’ cover and it was so much fun,” Gehlee recalled.

Gehlee, together with her former UNIS co-members Elisia Parmisano and Lim Seowon, covered BINI’s hit song “Pantropiko” in 2024 as part of a medley for 1theK Originals’ World Wide Cover.

The trio also performed “Contigo” by Karol G and Tiësto, Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ’Em,” noa’s “Any Angle,” and PLAVE’s “Way 4 Luv.” Their “Pantropiko” performance became the most replayed part of the video, which has since garnered more than 3.6 million views.

Beyond their music, Gehlee said she admires BINI’s bond as a group and the joy they have in performing together.

“Seeing them online din, it seems they love their job so much. Their chemistry with each other is so nice to see. The sisterhood that they have is so admirable. And their performances? Nasa-starstruck ako sa kanila,” she admitted.

Now that she is back in the Philippines and starting her journey as a solo artist, Gehlee is not closing the door on the possibility of finally working with her idols.

“If a collaboration ever happens, I think I would explode,” Gehlee shyly said.

Gehlee even took the opportunity to send a message to BINI, saying: “Hi po, mga Ates! I think you are so cool po. I love you and I idolize you before I even debut in UNIS. Nasha-shy ako. Parang namumula ako... If you want to collab, give me a call.”

Gehlee recently returned to the Philippines following the conclusion of her group’s, UNIS, contract with South Korean agency F&F Entertainment on September 26.

She received a warm welcome from her family and fans upon arriving in the country, a moment she described as heartwarming.

“Everybody is so sweet. I saw a photo online that shows everyone is like lining up and they are so cute. The bouquet, the cheer, my grandparents on the side and then may tarpaulin pa. It’s so heartwarming,” Gehlee said, recalling her airport arrival.

Bringing what she has learned as a UNIS member, Gehlee is looking forward to discovering what she can do more on her own.

“I’m super excited to explore the opportunities as a solo artist and learning more about myself as a solo artist because it is super different from being in a group. Everybody else is supporting each other but now I’m all on my own,” she said.

“It’s exciting to have a lot more creative freedom and I’m excited about it.”

As she begins this new chapter, Gehlee has one message for the fans who have supported her since the beginning of her journey.

“Salamat po talaga sa lahat ng suporta niyo. I love you guys so much. Thank you for supporting me since the beginning of our journey and welcoming me home whenever I visited. Now I’m here and I hope you guys are in for a ride,” she expressed.
