After the official disbandment of the Korean girl group UNIS last September 26, Filo member Gehlee Dangca returned to the Philippines. She was warmly welcomed by her family and some fans who handed her flowers and greetings of love as she embarks on a new era of her budding career.
“Super emotional din po sa airport papunta rito,” Dangca told ABS-CBN News who got the exclusive first interview.
Some of her Korean fans even came to the airport to see her before she left. “Sa kanila kasi, they didn’t know na uuwi ako. At the last minute, na-translate nila 'yung news. When they saw, they got ready and went to the airport to see me.”
“Naging home ko din 'yung Korea,” she said.
Mixed reactions flooded social media when the news broke out that she’s coming back to the Philippines after the disbandment. “I just wish the people wouldn’t see me coming home to the Philippines as a losing opportunity,” Dangca said.
“Home ko rin ang Pinas. I am here to be connected to the people, to my hometown and my family, my friends to catch up with them. And also my priority is to study rin po.”

Since the beginning of her career, Dangca has been managed by GLXY Entertainment. It was a mutual decision among all parties involved for her to return home to the Philippines, while remaining open to opportunities that may come her way.
Asked if she already has plans in the works, she remained tight-lipped.
As for her former UNIS sisters, she said: “I miss them. They’ll always gonna be in my heart. We’ve been thru so much together, I just hope that things gonna workout for them.”
“They knew I’m gonna come home, but for them, I’m not really sure what they’re gonna do. Pero I will support them,” she added.
Saying goodbye to her sisters was a “tearful event,” Dangca said. They had spent the past few days together before her departure.
“This past week, we’ve been going out together, just hanging out. For all that time, it hasn’t really hit any of us yet, na tapos na. Pero the dorm gradually lost stuff in it, kasi we were moving out,” she said.
her fans here in the Philippines, Korea and around the world, she assured them: “I will not disappear ever, so please don’t worry about it. And my bond with my sisters will always be so strong.”
