P-pop boy group ECHO announced Monday the death of member Jaspher Cabangon, known professionally as Sphere, a day after the group’s management said he was taking a temporary break from activities following his hospitalization.
The management did not disclose the cause of death and asked the public to give Cabangon’s family, loved ones and fellow ECHO members privacy as they grieve.
“At this time, we humbly ask everyone to give his family, loved ones, and the ECHO members the privacy and space they need to grieve,” the group's statement said.
ECHO also paid tribute to Cabangon, noting that the main vocalist “will always be remembered for the light, warmth, and joy he brought to the people around him.”
A day before Cabangon’s death announcement, the group's management informed the public that he will be taking a temporary break from all the group’s activities due to his hospitalization.
An eight-member group ECHO debuted last August 8, with their debut showcase “Ready to Rise.”
Prior to their debut, the group was recognized as one of Billboard Philippines' 10 most-voted P-pop releases in the first half of 2026 with their debut song “LLS (Leron Leron Sinta)”.
The management also released some details to those who wish to visit and pay their last respect to Cabangon.
