Spotify is shining the spotlight on SB19, tracing the P-pop supergroup's rise to overseas popularity in the series "The Come Up."
The series follows the five-member group's journey from being featured artists on Spotify's RADAR Philippines program, which sought to champion emerging artists, to performing at some of the world's biggest music festivals, the streaming service said Monday in a press release.
The announcement comes shortly after SB19's performances at Lollapalooza in the United States and Summer Sonic in Japan, two major international music festivals.
"The more places SB19 showed up on Spotify, the more their audience grew and stuck around. Our playlists like Tatak Pinoy, P-Pop On The Rise, and Viral Hits Philippines are how millions of listeners discover what to listen to next," said Spotify Philippines lead editor Chesca Tan.
"And what stands out with SB19 is that every era gave us a reason to champion them again. Each time, the audience got bigger and stayed longer. From playlists to podcasts to a first-of-its-kind Listening Party that drew fans from around the world, it's exciting to see an artist and their fans growing together on Spotify," Tan added.
In a joint statement, the boy band composed of Pablo, Josh, Justin, Ken and Stell said, "When we debuted eight years ago, we never imagined performing at international festivals or hearing fans around the world sing our songs back to us."
"A'TIN has been with us through every chapter, and Spotify has helped more listeners discover our music," the group said, referring to their fans.
"Every milestone reminds us how far we’ve come and motivates us to keep creating music that makes Filipinos proud," they added.
Formed in 2018, SB19 gained mainstream success after going viral with its 2019 single "Go Up" and continued to build its popularity with subsequent releases, including the songs "Mapa," "Gento" and "Dam."
