MANILA — Three of the 10 competing song interpreters are making final preparations as the Philippines gets ready for its first-ever Eurovision Song Contest Asia Philippine Selection Night on August 30, where one act will earn the chance to represent the country in Bangkok, Thailand this November.

Carmelle Collado, who will perform "Sobra-Sobra," is happy to be chosen as song interpreter, noting that there are a lot of talented Filipino singers.

"It’s a really big opportunity para sa akin kasi… alam ko na maraming magagaling dito po sa Pilipinas na kumakanta po, but then, isa po ako sa napili," she expressed.

"And 'yung mga kalaban ko po talaga sobrang hirap po talaga nilang talunin," she added.

She shared that her entry is different from her usual rock and pop performances, incorporating Filipino elements and a concept that serves as a tribute to Filipinas.

"'Yung magiging concept po is abangan niyo na lang dahil isa po ito sa, kumbaga, tribute din po sa lahat ng mga Filipinas," Collado said.

Meanwhile, P-pop group AJAA, composed of JC, Ash, Alex, and Axl, admitted feeling pressure as they compete alongside established artists, but said they are focused on enjoying the experience.

"Of course po there’s pressure talaga kasi nga po parang ang daming artist na magagaling na kasama namin, pero at the same time, very honored kami," Axl said.

"Parang first competition po 'to as a group po namin as AJAA. Kaya sobrang exciting po 'tong mae-experience po namin sa Eurovision," Alex added.

The group, who will perform the song "Make It Exist," also described the competition as their first major contest together and expressed excitement about performing on the Eurovision stage.

For VVINK and Wrive Russu, performing "Round N' Round" is an opportunity to showcase Filipino talent on a global platform.

"We see this as another opportunity po, another stage, another platform para mas ilabas pa po natin kung ano 'yung talento ng mga Pilipino," Angelika said.

The group teased a fresh performance featuring unique choreography, costumes, and concept, while Wrive Russu said collaborating with VVINK has been a smooth and welcoming experience.

A total of 10 original songs will compete during the Philippine Selection Night, with the winning entry advancing to the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 on November 14 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The live show will air on ABS-CBN, ALLTV2, A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, iWant, and TFC, with a delayed telecast on MYX.
