SEVENTEEN members Jeonghan and Joshua are set to debut as a sub-unit in October.
The duo, called JxJ, will release an extended play (EP) titled “Dreamscape” on October 19, label Pledis Entertainment said in a press statement.
“The upcoming album captures the dual dimensions of dreams–unconscious fantasies that bloom in our sleep and the ideals we strive for in reality,” Pledis explained.
“Blurring the boundaries through the constant cycle and collision of these two realms, the album opens up a new sensory world through music,” Pledis said.
On its social media pages, SEVENTEEN also dropped an 11-second teaser video for the sub-unit.
The announcement confirms earlier reports that Jeonghan and Joshua would form the latest two-person sub-unit of SEVENTEEN, whose members have recently focused on solo and unit activities as some of their bandmates have gone on hiatus to fulfill South Korea’s mandatory military service.
Notably, Jeonghan teamed up with Wonwoo for a duo release in 2024, before both of them began their military service. Jeonghan has since completed his service.
Other SEVENTEEN duo units include those comprising Hoshi and Woozi, S.Coups and Mingyu, DK and Seungkwan, and most recently, Vernon and The8.
Launched in 2015, the 13-member SEVENTEEN ranked as the second best-selling recording artist globally in 2023, just behind Taylor Swift, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
In 2023, the ensemble also topped the IFPI’s global album sales chart with “FML,” which sold at least 6.4 million units.
The group has also been appointed UNESCO goodwill ambassadors for the youth.
