Celebrating the last decade of filmmaking — and it’s all thanks to audiences who keep Philippine cinema alive!
Along with several of its film actors throughout the years, Star Cinema was among those who took home honors at the Golden Screen Awards’ Dekada Awards 2026, held by the Multi-Media Press Society of the Philippines at the MMFF Auditorium, Pasig City on October 4.
The star-studded ceremony brought together actors, filmmakers, producers, and industry leaders to celebrate the achievements and creative contributions that shaped Philippine cinema over the past 10 years.
Earning a special nod for its contributions to the industry, Star Cinema was named among the recipients of the Outstanding Film Production honor alongside production houses Viva Films and Regal Entertainment, Inc.
ABS-CBN Films head Kriz Gazmen accepted the award on behalf of Star Cinema.

In his acceptance speech, Gazmen paid tribute to the people who helped establish Star Cinema, including veteran actress Charo Santos, who was present at the ceremony, as well as industry pillars Malou N. Santos and Olivia M. Lamasan.
He also dedicated the recognition to the audiences who continue to support Filipino films, particularly at a time when going to the cinema has become more challenging.
“Most of all, I really want to thank our audiences. Maraming, maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nanonood ng pelikula hanggang ngayon. I know how much of an effort it is to go to the cinemas now,” Gazmen said.
The ceremony also honored some of the country’s most acclaimed actors for performances in films released under Star Cinema and Black Sheep, a fellow ABS-CBN Films brand.
Among the Dekada honorees was Charo Santos, who personally accepted her award for Best Actress for her performance in Black Sheep’s “Kun Maupay Man It Panahon” (2021).
Santos later expressed her gratitude for the recognition, reflecting on her decades-long career.
“50 years in this industry… and life still finds beautiful ways to surprise me,” Charo said via her Instagram page on October 5.
Other Star Cinema talents recognized for their memorable performances included Vilma Santos for “Everything About Her” (2016), Kathryn Bernardo for “The Hows of Us” (2018), and Charlie Dizon for Black Sheep’s “Third World Romance” (2023).

The male acting honorees also included Daniel Padilla for “Barcelona: A Love Untold” (2016) and Aga Muhlach for “Seven Sundays” (2017).

With its production honors and roster of actors celebrated for their work, the Dekada Awards 2026 served as another testament to the films, performances, and filmmakers that have helped shape the local filmmaking landscape over the past decade.
