We all have that one friend who is ‘chronically online’ in the best way possible. You know, the one who's always updated on the latest meme, knows the viral sound before you do, and can casually drop an internet reference into a completely unrelated conversation like it’s part of their everyday vocabulary.
On “It’s Showtime,” Vice Ganda is that friend. Yup, not only is she part of Philippine internet culture herself, but she also keeps up with other online trends. Here are some of her funniest moments that prove her feed is probably just as chaotic as ours.
Let’s kick off this Kapamilya Update compilation with a very recent clip where Vice jumped on the now-trending “Puwede Nang Mangarap” anthem, originally recorded by a young Lyca Gairanod. Meme managed to sneak the song right into the “Miss Q and A” segment. At first, everyone thought she was trying to give the rainbow community an uplifting message as she said, “Feeling n’yo ang daming sinasabi sa inyo, feeling n’yo nakakawala na ng gana...” Then, out of nowhere, she broke into “Puwede Nang Mangarap,” complete with the choreography.
Vice also proved that she can keep up with the ‘youngsters’ when she joined a “Miss Q and A” contestant in speaking Gen Z “ch” slang, or adding a “ch” sound at the end of each word. Altogether now: “Baklangch toch!”
And then she randomly worked the viral “1, 2, 3, go, kanya-kanya na” line into the most unexpected spiel. In an attendance check portion, where the hosts were giving ‘shoutouts’ to their exes, Vice went, “Sa aking mga nakilala, 1, 2, 3, go, kanya-kanya na. Basta ang mahalaga, ako’y maligaya na may Ion [Perez] na kasama.”
Oh, and the “4 Sides” challenge, where you say the same line in different emotions? Of course Vice has tried that, too. During one “Miss Q and A” episode, a candidate revealed that she wasn’t able to sleep as she came straight from work to the competition. Vice then joked that the hosts owed her an apology, so she, Anne Curtis, and Vhong Navarro said "I am sorry" in four different emotions—happy, disappointed, sad, and angry.
Even the trending “na para bang” catchphrase made it onto Vice’s radar. But, apparently, she doesn’t use it that much because she prefers the English version, "I feel like."
And of course, who wasn’t randomly saying “Goodness gracious!” when a clip of Vice from the movie “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” went viral? Nothing beats the OG, as they say, so Vice recreated the trending scene herself in the episode marking her comeback after weeks of being away from the show.
Vice's FYP must be working overtime, so we shouldn’t even be surprised when she pulls out another viral reference on “It’s Showtime.”
