MANILA — The registered owner of a motorcycle involved in a road rage incident in Antipolo City where an 8-year-old child was injured said the vehicle was sold in 2018 and they no longer know who the current owner is.
The female owner with her partner were summoned by the LTO following the incident last Sept. 21, 2026.
She told the media that they were summoned by the LTO upon learning that they are still the registered owner of said motorcycle based on the database.
“Okay naman po, tinanong lang nila yung sa motor. Ako nga talaga yung may-ari, kaso matagal na namin nabenta yun almost 8 years ago kaya wala kaming alam sa mga nangyayari,” she said.
They were cleared by the LTO after explaining their side.
“Wala kaming kailangang gawin - cleared kami. Hindi namin kilala yung napagbentahan kasi online lang yung eh. Mga 2018, yes…open deed of sale kasi yun - kaya nakapangalan pa sa amin,” she added.
The lesson here, according to the motorcycle owner, is to immediately transfer ownership of a vehicle once it is sold.
“Hindi namin inasahan na may mangyayaring ganon. Kaya dapat ma-transfer agad-agad pagka nagbenta ng sasakyan,” she said.
Nobody from the complainant's side attended the hearing.
The LTO has yet to issue a resolution on the case.
The Antipolo police earlier said they are investigating the incident after the mother of the child filed a complaint.
