After briefly exiting the match with still under eight minutes left, the Ateneo de Manila University star eventually returned to steer the Philippines to a winning debut in Pool C with 10 points, three rebounds, an assist, and a block.
Kennan Ka followed with three points, four rebounds, and two assists, while Amyah Espanol and Maria Pasilang each tallied two points, three rebounds, and two assists.
Up next for Gilas is a clash with Macau at 1 p.m.
On the other hand, Nyamtsetseg Batjargal rallied Mongolia in the loss with a game-high 11 points and four rebounds, while Urtnasan Chimedtseren contributed one point and two rebounds.
