More than a decade since she separated from her ex-husband Paolo Contis, Lian Paz has finally tied the knot with her longtime partner John Cabahug after more than four years of being engaged. The two got married in a civil ceremony officiated by Mandaue City Mayor Jonkie Ouano at the city hall on September 25, 2025.
John, who is also a former basketball player from the University of Visayas, shared their happy wedding photo in his Instagram account last September 25 along with the caption, "I love you forever, Lian."
Lian was formerly married to actor Paolo Contis with whom she has two daughters, Xonia Aitana Contis and Xalene Abriana Contis. She filed for annulment of her marriage with Paolo in 2021.
During an exclusive interview with PEP in 2020, Lian shared how she and John had known each other since they were young teenagers in the same high school in Cebu, but they parted ways when Lian and her family moved back to Manila. She eventually entered showbiz in 2006 as an EB Babe which eventually led to acting opportunities in different series.
It was in 2013 when Lian crossed paths with John again and the two became a couple and decided to become a blended family based in Cebu. Lian said that she was grateful for John stepping up as a devoted father to her children. The two also welcomed the arrival of their daughter Niña Angela in 2016.
Last August, Paolo reunited with his two daughters and publicly thanked Lian and John for allowing him to rekindle his relationship with his children. He wrote in his post, “John, I cannot thank you enough for this chance. I promise to have constant communication with all of you. I will not waste this chance. (Lian) You have always been kind and forgiving. This is why God has continuously blessed you. I appreciate all your efforts in talking to John about that day. Thank you for being strong and for how you nurtured the kids to have beautiful hearts.”
