Patrick Garcia's most recent sit-down interview with Ogie Diaz sparked a new life on an 18-year-old controversy between the actor and his former partner Jennylyn Mercado.
In his interview with Diaz, Garcia shared the timeline and story about his relationship with Mercado, especially during the time the actress was pregnant with their son, Jazz.
He came out in the open to talk about the issue when his daughter, Michelle, started receiving hate about her father's past.
Garcia denied that he abandoned Mercado and stated that the actress broke up with him and does not want to involve him in her life. According to him, he has not seen his son, Jazz, since 2017.
In a statement, Mercado's management said the actress will not comment nor grant any interviews out of respect for the privacy and peace of mind of her family and Garcia's.
But, Mercado's manager Becky Aguila lashed out her thoughts on Facebook, against Garcia. Tita Becky, as she is fondly called in the showbiz circle, questioned, "Why did u have to resort to an interview? Kahit wala na si Tita Lydia, andito pa naman ako."
She said she feels hurt for Mercado.
"Ayokong makasakit at makasira ng image pero nasasaktan ako for Jen. Sa dami ng pagkukulang mo ke Jen lalo na kay Jazz, mas inintindi mo pa magpa-interview to protect your daughter from bashers at the expense of Jen and Jazz. Nakalimutan mo yata that she is the mother of your child."
Aguila added he could have easily reached out to Jen and Dennis to sort whatever needs to be straightened out, "There are a lot of things you did to hurt her, and never niya kwinento yun sa iba bilang respeto sa iyo at tatay ka ng anak ninyo at para sa pamilya mo rin na nananahimik na. Pero lahat yun naalala ko."
She also stated that Garcia's version of the story had discrepancies.
She ended her post with a bold statement saying, "All I can say is that you never deserved Jen's love in the first place. And you will never earn my respect."
