Gilas Pilipinas Women clinched a silver finish in the 3-on-3 basketball tournament of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after falling to host Japan, 21-11, in the finals on Friday at the Kinjo Futo Station Square Venue.
The Philippines put up a valiant stand but could not overcome Japan’s Yuki Hirashita and Sakura Horiuchi, who scored nine and eight points, respectively, including six two-pointers between them.
Kacey Dela Rosa led Gilas with six points, three rebounds, and two assists, but the Philippines could not keep up with Japan’s hot shooting as the hosts eventually pulled away late in the match.
Amyah Espanol followed with three points and two rebounds, while Kennan Ka added two points and four rebounds in the loss.
Still, Gilas Women 3x3 became the only Philippine basketball team to secure a medal in the 2026 Asian Games, with Gilas Men 3x3 earlier settling for fourth place after losing to Iran, 21-10, in the battle for bronze.
